Heat Wave Arena Set Revealed & Destined Rivals Set Scheduled To Release in May!
Exciting news for Pokémon TCG fans! The Heat Wave Arena set has been officially revealed and is set to release on March 14th. This highly anticipated set will include 63 cards before secret rares and will feature iconic Trainer’s Pokémon such as Misty’s Gyarados, Ethan’s Ho-Oh, Cynthia’s Garchomp, and Arven’s Mabosstiff.
Heat Wave Arena Highlights:
Trainer’s Pokémon Spotlight:
-
Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex – A powerful Fire-type Pokémon with the ability Golden Flame, allowing you to attach up to two Basic Fire Energy from your hand to one of your benched Ethan’s Pokémon.
-
Cynthia’s Garchomp ex – Expected to be a major highlight in the set, aligning with Cynthia’s powerful Dragon-type Pokémon legacy.
-
Misty’s Gyarados – A Water-type force with Splashing Panic, dealing heavy damage based on the number of Misty’s Pokémon discarded from your deck.
-
Arven’s Mabosstiff – The loyal Dark-type Pokémon of Arven is set to make an impact with unique support abilities.
Additionally, Heat Wave Arena will introduce new Trainer cards like Ethan’s Adventure, which allows players to search their deck for up to three of Ethan’s Pokémon or Basic Fire Energy, and Sacred Ash, an Item that lets you shuffle up to five Pokémon from your discard pile into your deck.
Upcoming: Scarlet & Violet – Destined Rivals Set Releasing in May!
Following Heat Wave Arena, May will bring another major expansion—Scarlet & Violet: Destined Rivals, set to release on May 30th with prerelease events running from May 17th to May 25th.
What to Expect in Destined Rivals: This set will likely combine cards from multiple Japanese sources, including:
-
Heat Wave Arena featuring Cynthia’s Garchomp ex and Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex.
-
Steven’s Metagross ex and Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex decks.
-
The Glory of Team Rocket, which includes Rocket’s Mewtwo ex.
While many fans speculated that the set would have a Team Rocket-inspired name, modern English sets now combine multiple Japanese releases, making a direct Rocket reference misleading. Instead, Destined Rivals represents the fierce battles between iconic trainers and their Pokémon.
